About The Department
The Department has recently been restructured to offer small group teaching for pupils in Key Stage 3 with Moderate Learning Difficulties, Specific Learning Difficulties, Speech and Language Needs and Social Communication Difficulties.
In Key Stage 4, pupils are supported to complete course work and to prepare themselves for entry to further education or employment. Pupils in both Key Stages may also be supported in the mainstream classes by a dedicated team of Learning Support Assistants.
Pupils transferring to Rhyl High school with Individual Education Plans (IEP) will be placed on the SEN register and will continue to have an IEP until they have been reviewed. All pupils are assessed prior to joining year 7 and our Special Needs Coordinator Mrs J Russell meets with the Primary SENCOs to discuss the needs of our new pupils and to transfer SEN files. This information then forms the basis for deciding the appropriate provision for pupils.
In partnership with parents and multi-agency professionals, we pride ourselves on striving to support our pupils within a caring and secure environment to achieve their personal best.
