Equal Opportunities

The school has a policy that ensures our environment is a place where everyone, irrespective of their race, colour, ethnic or natural origin, gender or disability, is welcomed and valued.

Sex Education Policy

Sex Education forms part of our Science, PSE and RE curriculum. Our Year 7 Science programme provides foundation knowledge and this is further developed in Years 9 and 10. Moral and ethical aspects of sexual behaviour are discussed in PSE and RE lessons. The emphasis is on stable, caring relationships.

Religious Education and Collective Worship

The school aims to offer a broad and balanced approach to learning about belief systems. We invite a variety of speakers to talk to our pupils in assemblies about faith-based issues. If a parent wishes to withdraw a pupil from R.E. or Collective Worship then they must make an appointment with the Headteacher.

Personal, Social and Health Education

This is delivered primarily by our MFL teachers in timetabled lessons. Elements are delivered in tutorials and Theme Days which are organised throughout the year. The programme covers life skills, health, social education, works skills. Health education is delivered mainly through Science with contributions in P.E. The school has excellent relationships and much valued support from the School Police Liaison Officer, Colin Midgeley. He addresses year groups on a wide variety of issues as well as giving support to individual pupils.
