Malaysia Expedition 2018

World Challenge Malaysia Expedition 2018

Following the success of the Morocco expedition in July 2016, a team of 20 Students will be undertaking an exciting new adventure to Malaysia in the summer of 2018.

World challenge organise life changing expeditions around the world for young people. As a school we are very excited about the opportunity this will give students to do something really unique that will make them stand out from the crowd.

The experience will provide students with a wealth of new skills, which they will find invaluable in school, college, university and in the world of work.

The expedition will be taking place in July 2018 for 14 days. Departure will be between 9th & 11th of July.

Working together as part of a team is going to be essential in Malaysia, therefore we want to ensure we get this right well in advance.

We will be holding regular Challenger & Parents meetings, to ensure the Challengers obtain enough information, advice and guidance on everything from fundraising to kit to travelling.

If you have any questions or queries regarding the Malaysia Expedition, please contact Mrs Raye Phillips or Mr Mike Farrell – School Expedition Leaders at malaysia2018@rhylhigh.co.uk

World Challenge Expedition 2016

World challenge organise life changing expeditions around the world for young people. As a school we are very excited about the opportunity this will give students to do something really unique that will make them stand out from the crowd.

The experience will provide students with a wealth of new skills, which they will find invaluable in school, college, university and in the world of work.

The expedition will be taking place in July 2016 for 14 days. Departure will be between 11th & 14th of July.

Working together as part of a team is going to be essential in Morocco, therefore we want to ensure we get this right well in advance.

We will be holding a Challengers’ meeting every week for the next half term, to ensure the Challengers obtain enough information, advice and guidance on everything from fundraising to kit to travelling.

We anticipate all meetings to be finished by 4pm, however, the Challengers may wish to stay a little later, if they are busy working on ideas or arranging events.

The latest they should be in school will be 4.30pm.

It’s appreciated that Challengers may not be able to attend all meetings, however, they should try to attend as many as possible, in order to ensure they are participating with organising events and sharing ideas.
Please be sure to encourage your child to raise their own fund. They have been given information but don’t hesitate to contact Mrs Phillips or Mr Farrell for more information.

The challengers have been working extremely hard to raise the money they need to fund the expedition. To date, as a group, they have raised over £4,000, by bag packing, car washing, car boot sales, providing refreshments at school events, taking part in community fayres, completing a sponsored bike ride, hosting a Halloween disco and much more. We are also in the process of selling calendars of Rhyl High School, to help capture a bit of history and memories before it is demolished. The challengers are still concentrating on their own individual fundraising.

The challengers are also working hard to increase their fitness levels. They have taken part in a family Bootcamp, completed a 60k Bike Ride, Walked up Moel Famua in the rain and wind Walked around Llyn Brenig in the snow and have completed a number of Bleep tests.
